Built upon a game-based narrative learning platform it has a strong motivational appeal to children. Traditional youth education programs for digital citizenship are instructive and systematic, having low motivational appeal to children. Trends in digital media have identified a rapid lowering of the age in which children begin using digital media, resulting in a critical need to create a program that is fun and interactive among young users today. To foster a digital citizenship and strong moral values within young children, the iZ Hero program seeks to address this need and serves as an engaging platform to equip children in the 21st century with a positive global outlook and responsible use of digital media. Creating a fictional storyline, children will learn naturally, the concepts of cyber-risks through animated characters across a variety of digital platforms. Together with a world’s first interactive exhibition for digital citizenship education, children can participate in a sequence of game stations and be a part of the storyline plot, ultimately becoming iZ HEROes themselves by defeating infollution (information pollution) and infollmons – Monsters that pollute the digital world. Since 2011, the inaugural iZ HERO exhibition was held at the National Science Museum in Korea. Its transformative methods generated massive media attention in top newspapers, radios and TV broadcasts. Over 1,000 children participated daily in the twenty minute-long exhibition and thousands more parents and children alike learn of infollution each day. Participants surveyed and focus groups interviewed confirm the strong efficacy and high motivational appeal of the program and came up with the following key findings: 1) Most children enjoyed the exhibition and want to visit the exhibition again. 2) The experience of being an iZ HERO may lead to positive behavioral changes in using digital media; and 3) After viewing the exhibition, children have significantly increase their awareness of cyber-risks. The exhibition had a successful nationwide tour in Korea in 2011 and the results have been so positive that the Ministry of Education in Singapore has sought to host the next-generation exhibition of iZ HERO at the Science Centre Singapore in March 2013. Compared to the limited capacity of the first exhibition in Korea, this upcoming exhibition will be on a much larger-scale and involve much more activities to cater to the many thousands of children in Singapore. This exhibition will continue to evolve in fun and practical ways to reach out to youths and parents alike. ABOUT the MUSIC VIDEO This is the first 3D music video for a indie musician in Korea. 어장관리의 심리를 3D 입체감으로 표현: ‘Fish & Chips’ 의 가사는 요즘 흔히 쓰는 표현으로 ‘어장관리’ 하고 있는 화자의 심리를 보여주고 있습니다. 이런 남녀 주인공의 심리를 영상이미지로 효과적으로 보여주기 위하여 극의 전개에 따라 달라지는 그들의 심리적 거리를 3D 입체감과 원근감을 이용하여 표현하였습니다. 후렴구인 ‘내가 웃은 걸까 네가 웃은 걸까, 단지 지금일 뿐’ 이라는 가사는 서로 마주 보고 있을 때는 웃고 기분이 좋지만 돌아서면 다시 차가워지는 관계를 나타냅니다. 영상에서도 상대적인 거리에 따라 달라지는 남녀의 표정 변화를 통해 가사의 흐름에 충실하고자 했습니다. 배우들의 이러한 물리적인 거리와 심리적 거리가 3D Depth연출과 어울어져 기존의 2D 영상연출보다 더 효과적으로 표현할 수 있었습니다. 보다 많은 사람들이 즐길 수 있도록 적청안경 방식 도입: 뮤직비디오를 즐기는 음악팬들 중 다수가 컴퓨터 모니터 혹은 스마트폰으로 감상한다는 점에 착안하여 일반적인 Interlace 방식 뿐만 아니라 Red-cyan 방식으로도 제작하였습니다. 상대적으로 접근이 용이한 적청 방식을 통하여 일반인들이 3D 컨텐츠에 가지고 있는 거리감을 줄이고자 하였습니다. 심지어 적청안경이 없는 음악팬들을 고려하여, 2D로 감상하여도 미학적 무리가 없도록 하였습니다. Red-Cyan으로 나타나는 시차를 팝아트적 감성으로 느끼게 하기 위하여 이와 가장 잘 어울리는 흑백톤을 유지하였습니다. 이에 따른 시각적 피로도를 줄이기 위하여 배경디자인과 컷의 변화를 최소화하였습니다. 이번 작업을 통해 보다 더 많은 음악팬들이 3D 스트레오그래픽 영상의 재미를 느끼고 관심을 갖을 수 있었기를 바랍니다.
